The Last Kingdom

Project overview

For Carnival’s 2015 BBC Two series The Last Kingdom, created by Huge Designs and directed by Paul McDonnell, I produced the illustrations for the opening title sequence. The artwork drew on the world of Saxon England and Viking conflict, combining hand-crafted historical imagery with an atmospheric animated treatment to establish the series’ sense of scale, violence and mythic storytelling. The sequence was nominated for a 2016 BAFTA TV Craft Award for Titles & Graphic Identity.
